Golka succeeded U.S. Archbishop Samuel Joseph Aquila, who resigned in this position. Born on September 22, 1966, in Grand Island, Nebraska, Golka earned a degree in Philosophy from Creighton University and completed his Master of Divinity at Saint Paul Seminary in Minnesota.
