Summary
Archbishop Richard Moth, the 12th Archbishop of Westminster, delivered his inaugural homily at an installation Mass held on February 14 at Westminster Cathedral. In his speech, he exhorted the faithful to live courageously and faithfully in accordance with their gifts as recipients of God’s call through baptism, confirmation, and holy orders. Recalling St. Paul’s words to Timothy, Archbishop Moth emphasized that the church must not seek worldly power or dominance but instead a life guided by self-control and empowered by the Holy Spirit, which brings hope to a world in need. The installation event was attended by clergy, religious leaders, civic officials, and lay followers. This follows Bishop Basil Hume’s consecration in 1976, from which Archbishop Moth also heard St. Paul’s message.
